S P O N S O R S - E Q U I S S A G E
We were introduced to Equissage about 11 years ago and can honestly say it is a piece of equipment
that we just would not be without.

Equissage massage therapy provides a "Cycloidal" massage to the horse's body - "Cycloid" massage being a 3-way massage (i.e. horizontal, vertical and circular motions all at the same time). Such system stimulates the circulation so not only aids the healing process but also helps the body eliminate toxins as well as being extremely relaxing for the horse. The cycloidal action also means that the massage penetrates into the deeper muscles of the horse rather than just working on the superficial muscles. .
The therapy system comes in the form of a hand-held unit (belt pack) or a Pad which is fitted on the horse and held in position by way of a breast girth and surcingle.

We elected to purchase the complete package which obviously we would not have done if we had not been firmly convinced of the tremendous value this equipment would have - and we have not been disappointed.
We use the Pad on a regular basis, either before or after exercise, on all of the horses in the yard and the results are apparent - no stiff muscles and no swellings, all of which are common occurrences in horses being backed as their bodies adjust to being introduced to work and weight. All of the recipients of the treatment evidently enjoy it and are so relaxed. Strictly, the hand held unit should be used in conjunction with the Pad for localised treatments but we use it on its own for very nervous horses as a therapeutic massage to relax them, and as a prelim to clipping for the first time as the unit acclimatises young horses to vibration and movement without the involvement of electricity! We have found many other benefits for older horses especially those that come to us with injuries, haematomas, muscle tension, etc. - the list is endless.
We find the Pad invaluble in our work both in training young horses and re-training horses of the race course. In the case of the latter, we often have to work with horses that have incurred tendon injuries, fractures, deep muscular traumas, etc. .and it can take time for them to work through such in order to be happy, supple, relaxed riding horses let alone find their way into the competition environment. By promoting blood flow, improving circulation and venous drainage Equissage is a valuable asset, alongside the correct diet and training exercises, in helping us produce horses with a good musculature and are the picture of health.
THE RED PAD
Equissage have just launched a new Pad - the Red Pad. As long-term Equissage users we were asked to be part of the trial team to put the new Pad through its paces. Having had a Red Pad here for so long it has been very difficult to keep quiet!
Well, we have always been great fans believing that there is no other product to match it in terms of benefit, ease of use and portability, but this new Pad takes the experience to new levels.
With a split battery pack the Pad remains more stable on the horse's back, whilst the Pad is of the same design it is shaped to fit more closely and it is quieter running too.
However the biggest improvement is the fact that two leg boots can be connected to the Pad so that no-one has to physically hold the Hand Unit to treat leg conditions. This is a huge time saving particularly as two legs can be treated at the same time.
Equissage is of benefit for horses across the equestrian disciplines; even if you are non-competive, Equissage should comprise part of your equipment both in terms of improving your horse's well-being but also to address the day-to-day ailments which crop up even with the most cotton-wool wrapped horse.
|
The battery pack is now split so that the Pad remains evenly seated on the horse's back. There is a splitter which attaches to the rear of the battery pack allowing one or two leg boots to be attached without the need for someone to hold them in situ. |

Our Testimonial
As a training, schooling and rehab yard we have horses at all stages of their physical development. We have found that use of the Equissage on a regular basis, either before or after work (or both for some individuals) eliminates stiffness and swellings which are common occurrences especially in horses undergoing their early training and backing as their bodies adjust to work and weight. Using the Equissage has also proved to be of great benefit with horses suffering from muscular tensions or dysfunctions, respiratory conditions, leg injuries and haematomas as the cycloidal massaging improves the circulation, and hence venous and lymphatic drainage, aids joint mobility and improves muscle tone, flexibility and suppleness. The helps us considerably in our work with horses that have come out of training. The horses evidently enjoy the relaxing yet stimulating effects and use of the Equissage therapy package (pad and hand held unit) has become an integral part of our daily management routine so we say "Thank you Equissage for providing a 24-7 physio".
We will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding Equissage and its application.
