E.M.T. HORSES
Here are a few of the horses we are currently working with.

"OSCAR" ("Call Oscar")
Our "Project Horse" Call Oscar is making good progress and he has been the subject of a long reining feature in the uJne edition of "Your Horse". |

"DORA
|
|
What a wonderful mare to work with; Dora is an absolute delight! She is a very workmanlike mare and although she is on a steep learning curve, just wants to get on with the job and please.
As an ex-racehorse that has been in training longer than most, then she needs more time to adjust and learn a new set of rules, but she is making excellent progress despite as some stage of her racing career suffered a rotational fall as evidenced by changes to the lumbar/pelvic area.
"MARC0""De Marco")
|
We are currently working on getting to the bottom of why this fabulous "De Niro" gelding loses the plot every now and again resulting in catapulting his riders out of the saddle. Marco is a big lad and it would be very easy for someone to think that he just needed "sorting out"; but Marco is a very sensitive horse and he is clearly telling us all that something is wrong. We will find whatever it is, but we just hope it is somethig that can be put right. Watch this space! |
"ABBEY"
This five year old is another delightful mare to have in to work with. Although already backed, Abbey needs to learn to go forwards off the leg and be accepting of the contact. Being naturally a good-doer, it would be easy for Abbey to become "stuffy"so she has to learn now that going actively forwards is the right thing to do. Side reins are not the answer for every horse but in Abbey's case, as she is still young and developing, she can learn much of what she needs to know by working loose without the weight of a rider. |
|
"ROCKY" ("Rock Salmon")
Rocky is back with us for a third time to be prepared for his return into Nationl Hunt training having suffered a tendon injury whilst on the gallops in in the Autumn of last year. He has just come in from having had almost a year of grass rest and will now spend several weeks doing roadwork prior to having a tendon scan before going back into training. Rocky will be returning to Lucy Wadham in Newmarket. |
|
"VINNIE"
|
Vinnie has been backed and has just come back in to work following a period of turn-out. Like his half brother above Vinnie is going into training. That is the wonderful aspect of life here - seeing horses at both ends of the racing spectrum as well as working with horses for other equestrian sports. Vinnie has needed a long time to develop physically but he is a chaser in the making. He will go into training with Alex Hales. |
"Bombie" ("Light the Fuse")
Bombie is an ex-national hunt racehorse. Bombie lives up to his name (hardly surprising as his sire was "Electric" and his dam" Celtic Bombshell" ("Celtic Cone"). Such is his character that he had to be re-broken twice following injury lay-offs! In fact when speaking to one of his former trainers recently, he enquired as to whether Bombie was still "as lively". Silly question!! |

"OSCAR" ("Whinny Tou")
![]() |
You wouldn't meet a kinder natured horse than this Whinny Jackson/ Wolfgang gelding.
Back in the competition environment Oscar, although apprehensive, shows no signs of the behaviour that has "got him into trouble" in the past! |
"BO ("Mr. Bojangles")
|
Since coming out of National Hunting Bo has racked up 305 BD points and regularly qualified for Regional Finals and the Nationals; he was also very successful at dressage to music. Bo has been based with Paul Hayler where he achieved his AM debut. However he has now retired from dressage but has no plans to take it easy!Bo loves jumping coloured fences and if he finds solid timber equally as appealing. It is hard to think that three years ago Bo was fighting for his life and has to have an emergency to remove a section of his jugular vein. |
"Peanut" ("West Life")
|
With his illustrious Florencio I/Florestan I, breeding we are excited as to what the future could hold for Peanut. It has been a very frustrating 6 months as Rowena has been unable to compete due to a badly broken wrist but it hasn't done Peanut any harm to wait quietly on the sidelines. Typical of his breed line, he is a sharp boy and has needed time to mature menally. Peanut is developing into a superb specimen and we cannot wait to hit the competition arena! |
"MASON"
"CHARLI"
